Casa Batlló has announced that the Italian artist Quayola will be the creative mind behind its highly anticipated 2025 façade mapping. This annual event, which has become a global reference in audiovisual art, will take place on February 1 and 2, offering audiences a mesmerizing projection every 30 minutes between 7:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Since its inception, the initiative has drawn thousands of spectators, turning one of Barcelona’s most emblematic landmarks into a vibrant, dynamic canvas that blends art and technology.

Over the years, Casa Batlló has invited groundbreaking artists to reinterpret Gaudí’s legacy through immersive digital experiences. The upcoming edition follows previous mappings by Refik Anadol and Sofía Crespo, each of whom has contributed to transforming the building into a beacon of contemporary artistic expression. As part of The Heritage of Tomorrow program, the project aims to bridge the past and the future by reimagining Gaudí’s architectural wonders through the lens of modern digital artistry.

For this edition, Quayola’s work will pay homage to nature, a fundamental source of inspiration for Gaudí. Known for his algorithm-driven visualizations, the artist has developed a digital piece titled Arborescent, which explores the organic growth patterns of trees. The façade will serve as a unique medium where natural elements evolve in response to their environment, reflecting the harmony between technology and nature. His artistic vision will unfold through a colorful, pictorial aesthetic, enhanced by an original soundtrack composed by the artist himself, further immersing spectators in the experience.

Quayola, whose work often intersects classical artistic traditions with computational methodologies, describes the opportunity to work with Casa Batlló as particularly significant. He emphasizes the endless inspiration that nature provides and the parallels between Gaudí’s architectural genius and the structural beauty of the natural world. His approach to digital reinterpretation not only honors but also amplifies Gaudí’s vision, reinforcing the dialogue between historical heritage and technological evolution.

Gary Gautier, CEO of Casa Batlló, highlights the synergy between the artist’s approach and the building’s intricate façade, noting how Quayola’s sculptural perspective will enhance the architectural reliefs and symbols. The event will once again be supported by Integrated Systems Europe (ISE), reaffirming its commitment to merging cutting-edge technology with cultural heritage. As a longstanding partner, ISE continues to contribute to making this free public spectacle a remarkable gift to the city of Barcelona.
