Make This Moment Matter sets the theme for 3daysofdesign 2026

3daysofdesign 2026 in Copenhagen has announced Make This Moment Matter as its new theme, accompanied by a visual identity created by the design studio and exhibition space On Display. Taking place from 10 to 12 June 2026, the Danish design festival frames its next edition around the value of the present moment, asking how design can move beyond display and carry a clearer sense of purpose.

The theme arrives at a time when design is often pulled between heritage and speculation. One direction looks back, towards the legacy of Danish masters whose work continues to shape furniture, interiors and material culture. Another looks ahead, towards future scenarios and new technologies. Make This Moment Matter pauses between those positions. It proposes the present as the place where decisions are made visible and where design begins to have real consequence.

For 3daysofdesign, the theme is also a call to define why something should exist. A design object can occupy space, but without intention it risks becoming static. When shaped by careful material choices and a deeper understanding of how people live, it can influence everyday experience. The festival connects this idea to environmental responsibility, wellbeing and the creation of places where people feel a sense of belonging.

“Make This Moment Matter is a positive form of empowerment, urging people to create something with a purpose that’s meaningful,” says Signe Byrdal Terenziani, CEO and Managing Director of 3daysofdesign. Her words frame the theme as both invitation and challenge. The message is not about waiting for certainty, but about acting with enough clarity to make each decision matter.

The visual identity for 2026 has been created by On Display, a Copenhagen-based design studio and exhibition space founded by Anders Gerning, Marie Heissel and Tor S. Johannesen. Their artwork brings together a black lily in a vase and an Origami Teller placed above it. The composition is spare but suggestive. The flower holds the image in a moment of stillness, while the folded paper object introduces the idea of hidden questions and possible answers.

On Display describes the theme as a gentle push to slow down and pay attention. That sensibility is present in the artwork, which avoids spectacle in favour of restraint. The black lily suggests fragility and time, while the Origami Teller points to uncertainty and decision-making. Together, they create an image suspended between what has passed and what has not yet taken shape.
