Located within the Saadiyat Cultural District, this groundbreaking project spans an impressive 17,000 square meters and redefines the intersection of art, science, and technology. Developed through a collaboration between the Department of Culture and Tourism—Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), Miral, and the internationally renowned art collective teamLab, this immersive destination is poised to become a global landmark for artistic exploration.
At its core, teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi is designed to be a constantly evolving space where art does not exist as static installations but rather emerges through interactions with its environment. The concept, known as “Environmental Phenomena,” challenges traditional notions of artistic creation by integrating natural elements such as air, water, and light. As a result, the artworks are in a perpetual state of transformation, ensuring that no two visits will ever be identical. This dynamic approach invites guests to engage with their surroundings in ways that foster curiosity, imagination, and deeper connections with the world.
The initiative is a key component of Saadiyat Cultural District’s broader vision to position Abu Dhabi as a global hub for cultural exchange and artistic innovation. According to HE Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of DCT Abu Dhabi, the district aims to preserve heritage while embracing forward-thinking artistic expression. Designed by teamLab Architects in collaboration with Abu Dhabi-based MZ Architects, the purpose-built structure housing the exhibits will play an integral role in shaping the visitor experience.
