HOFF opens a new Velázquez flagship inspired by historic Madrid avenues
HOFF’s flagship on Calle Velázquez emerges as a contemporary reading of Madrid’s 19th-century ambition for a grand civic promenade.
El Departamento draws from the avenue’s original urban intent—an axis shaped for walking, observing and social connection—to form an atmosphere that positions retail as an extension of city life.
The studio transforms historical research into spatial clarity, creating an environment where architecture and craftsmanship operate with quiet precision across 600 m².

The project uses the boulevard’s early cosmopolitan identity as its conceptual structure. This foundation informs an interior that favors openness, modularity and measured transitions.
Each area behaves as part of a continuous route while preserving its own sensory cadence. The design language follows an urban rhythm rather than a conventional commercial sequence, producing a store that functions as a cultural setting.

The visit begins at SNEAKS café, where pink olivillo marble and hand-crafted clay tiles form a warm and tactile envelope.
The room maintains a domestic tone that shifts easily between daily use and programmed events. Its layout supports fluid rearrangement, reinforcing the adaptable nature of the space.
This opening moment establishes the project’s commitment to material integrity and human-scaled detail.

At the center, The Stage organizes HOFF’s collections on three linear travertine shelves that run like architectural strata through the room.
A custom terrazzo floor created exclusively for the brand acts as a chromatic anchor, giving the store a unified visual base. Adjustable lighting responds to changing daylight, shaping the interior’s perception throughout the day.
Sculptural works by Sara Regal, Casa Antillón and Elisabeth Blumen introduce artistic counterpoints that emphasize the relationship between craft and spatial form.

The path advances into The Sneaker Lab, where restoration and customization highlight the value of process and maintenance.
Nearby, The Gallery of HOFF forms a quiet amphitheater defined by a wicker and metal installation crafted in Alicante, reaffirming the project’s connection to local artisans.
On the upper level, The Work—Shop provides a flexible room for talks and cultural gatherings, while a mirrored passage leads to The Attic, an intimate apartment-like zone intended for private appointments.

Material choices underpin the project’s calm and cohesive identity. Lime mortar, local stone and solid wood carry the weight of traditional trades, while stainless steel and technical lighting introduce a measured contemporary presence.
Together, these elements create a balanced atmosphere that respects the individuality of each zone without breaking the continuity of the whole.
With Velázquez 37, HOFF reinforces a model in which retail aligns with cultural and social life. For El Departamento, the store extends an ongoing investigation into how architecture participates in everyday urban experience.
