“Ending Up in the Wrong Way” is a quiet but piercing meditation on love after the fact. Written in the emotional aftermath of a bittersweet relationship that ended in 2023, the track lingers in that space where clarity arrives too late and memory does most of the talking. The title says it plainly. This is not about drama or rupture, but about the slow realization of how things slipped somewhere they were never meant to go.
Melody carries the weight here. The expressive lead line moves with restraint, allowing feeling to surface without forcing it, while the performances around it feel carefully lived in rather than embellished. There is a strong sense of musical conversation at play, each part serving the emotional arc rather than competing for attention.
The song also works as a window into Richard Green’s broader artistic identity. An Italian guitarist and composer based in London since 2012, Green has built a body of work defined by stylistic openness and emotional intent. From the dark experimental textures of his debut Dark Horses to the piano and string driven EP A Journey, and through his ambitious trilogy spanning The Circle Closes and First Light, his music consistently resists confinement to a single genre.
