adidas CLIMACOOL LACED introduces next generation breathable footwear

adidas introduces the CLIMACOOL LACED 3D-printed sneaker, a performance-driven footwear design expanding its additive manufacturing program, available globally from March 2026. The adidas CLIMACOOL LACED positions itself within contemporary sportswear as a wearable study in airflow, combining computational design with everyday usability for athletes and urban environments alike.

The adidas CLIMACOOL LACED builds on the brand’s ongoing research into 3D printing technologies, following earlier limited releases in 2024. Developed using digital light synthesis (DLS), each pair is produced over approximately 24 hours through a layer-by-layer process that integrates structure, cushioning, and ventilation into a single continuous form. This additive manufacturing method allows adidas to control material distribution with precision, creating targeted airflow zones and eliminating the need for traditional assembly.

Defined by its lattice construction, the adidas CLIMACOOL LACED 3D-printed sneaker delivers 360-degree airflow through an open, sculpted geometry that regulates temperature across the foot. The absence of seams, edges, and internal joins reduces friction, contributing to a smooth, uninterrupted contact between shoe and wearer. This seamless configuration supports extended use in off-court, everyday contexts, aligning performance innovation with lifestyle application.

Material efficiency plays a central role in the design. Compared to 2025 iterations, the adidas CLIMACOOL LACED is approximately 15 percent lighter, achieved through refined lattice density and optimized structural mapping. Size-specific cushioning is embedded directly into the printed form, ensuring each pair responds to individual foot dimensions. This approach replaces conventional midsoles and inserts with an integrated system, reinforcing the shift toward fully engineered footwear.

The introduction of laces marks a functional evolution within the CLIMACOOL line. While previous versions relied on slip-on constructions, the laced system allows for a more adaptable fit across a wider range of foot shapes. Combined with a reinforced outsole for durability, the sneaker addresses both comfort and longevity without compromising its minimal visual language. The all-white colorway, accented by subtle ghost stripes, reinforces the technical clarity of the design.

Fronted by athletes Kahleah Copper and Jalen Williams, the campaign positions the adidas CLIMACOOL LACED within a broader narrative of movement, recovery, and daily performance. Presented through off-duty scenarios, the project emphasizes breathability as both a functional and experiential quality. As a product, the adidas CLIMACOOL LACED reflects a shift in footwear design, where additive manufacturing, lightweight construction, and adaptable fit converge into a new standard for sportswear and beyond.
