Galerie Philia celebrates ten years with Strates exhibition

Strates reflects a decade of Galerie Philia’s artistic vision in Grand Paris

To celebrate its tenth anniversary, Galerie Philia presents STRATES, an ambitious exhibition held from October 28 to November 30, 2025, at Espaces d’Abraxas and Parking Jacques Kalisz in Noisy-le-Grand, Grand Paris.

This event marks a significant milestone for the international gallery known for fostering encounters between contemporary design, architecture, and sculpture.

By choosing two monumental examples of French brutalism, the exhibition establishes a powerful dialogue between material, memory, and urban space.

Each artist represented by Galerie Philia contributes a seminal work from the past decade, creating a retrospective landscape of the gallery’s evolution.

These pieces—ranging from sculptural experiments in raw materiality to refined objects of functional art—trace the intertwined narratives of creation and context.

The exhibition invites reflection on how form and philosophy intersect within architectural environments that themselves embody utopian ideals of the twentieth century.

Within the concrete spirals of Jacques Kalisz’s Mont d’Est parking structure, the works interact with the spatial complexity of post-war modernism.

The site, often described as a “cathedral of infrastructure,” transforms into an open framework for artistic resonance. Across the esplanade, Ricardo Bofill’s Espaces d’Abraxas—its monumental symmetry and cinematic scale familiar from films such as Brazil and The Hunger Games—offers a theatrical setting for the sculptural compositions.

Together, these sites amplify the exhibition’s conceptual ambition: to reveal the stratified relationship between artistic practice and architectural heritage.

The project also aligns with the ongoing urban transformation of Noisy-le-Grand, a city redefining its civic identity through culture. Supported by SOCAREN’s redevelopment initiatives, the exhibition forms part of a broader movement to reactivate public space through creativity. By integrating local participation, workshops, and educational encounters, STRATES functions not only as an artistic statement but as an act of civic engagement.

Galerie Philia’s history of curating in exceptional architectural settings—from Le Corbusier’s Cité Radieuse in Marseille to Oscar Niemeyer’s MAC Niterói in Brazil—finds continuity here in the Parisian periphery.

The gallery’s commitment to transcultural dialogue and ethical design continues through initiatives like Philia & Kids and Philia Magazine, reaffirming the belief that design is a shared language of ideas and forms.

Through STRATES, Philia articulates a decade of creative inquiry, reaffirming its mission to connect art, architecture, and community. The exhibition stands as both celebration and manifesto, a reflection on how contemporary design can inhabit the city while shaping new imaginaries for its future.
