Introducing: Teko Baby

Teko Baby is an artist shaped by lineage as much as by choice. Born Alvin Lyons in Ft. Pierce, Florida, music was not an escape but a native language, learned early through a jazz-musician father and a chorus-teacher mother. By twenty, he had already stepped into the industry with intent, later sharpening his instincts alongside figures like Mase, DMX, and LL Cool J after a pivotal run with the R&B group Innermission. Even an acceptance to Morehouse College could not compete with the gravity of New York, where he committed fully to music, building a profile as a singer, performer, actor, and visual storyteller. His work carries a clear devotion to composition and a reverence for classic hip-hop and R&B, not as nostalgia, but as foundation.

Make it up

“Make It Up” shifts the temperature. Drawing from the era of unapologetically sensual R&B, it embraces flirtation and confidence with little concern for restraint. The track nods to the rawness of late-’90s and early-2000s slow jams, where intention was clear and subtlety was optional. Together, these songs sketch two sides of Teko Baby’s musical identity, one rooted in emotional balance, the other in instinct and desire, both connected by a deep respect for the traditions that shaped him.

Right There 4 U

“Right There 4 U” leans into feel before flash. It moves with a smooth, unforced groove, allowing the rhythm to do the emotional heavy lifting while the lyrics unpack relationship tension and resilience. There’s an ease to the track that mirrors its message, acknowledging conflict without drowning in it, offering empowerment through clarity rather than confrontation. It’s a song that understands vibe as something earned, not programmed.
