L’Oréal presents two new beauty technologies at CES 2023

L’Oréal unveiled two new technology prototypes at CES 2023 that expand access to beauty expression. HAPTA, the first ultra-precise computerized makeup applicator designed to meet the beauty needs of people with reduced mobility of hands and arms; and L’Oréal Brow Magic, the first electronic at-home eyebrow makeup applicator that provides users with custom brows in seconds.

“For L’Oréal, the future of beauty is inclusive. And this future will be made more accessible by technology,” said Nicolas Hieronimus, CEO of the L’Oréal Groupe. “The two consumer technologies we are unveiling this year at CES represent the true purpose of our company: to create the beauty that moves the world.”

Introducing HAPTA

It is estimated that 50 million people worldwide live with limited fine motor skills. This makes certain daily gestures, such as putting on makeup, difficult. Under development by L’Oréal scientists and engineers, HAPTA is a portable, ultra-precise smart makeup applicator that offers users with limited hand and arm mobility the ability to regularly apply lipstick to the house. HAPTA will incorporate technology originally developed by Verily to stabilize and level the containers to allow people with limited hand and arm mobility to eat with confidence and independence.

Key to HAPTA is its combination of built-in intelligent motion control and customizable accessories that provide the user with improved range of motion, ease of use for tight-to-open packs, and precision applications that are otherwise challenging to achieve – allowing individuals to enjoy the expressive power of self-confidence, freedom and beauty. Help to feel.

HAPTA is equipped with a magnetic attachment that allows 360 degree rotation and 180 degree flexion for easy ergonomic use. A “click” feature allows the user to intuitively set the desired position, stay in position during use, and lock in the user’s custom setting for future use. HAPTA comes with a built-in battery (three hours on a full charge) and device charging that translates to one hour of continuous use (approximately 10+ apps).

Introducing L’Oréal Brow Magic

Historically, achieving the desired brow appearance can take multiple products, time, and skill – accurate results require expensive professional services like microblading. With L’Oreal Brow Magic, people can achieve a personalized brow look at home based on their natural brows and facial features.

Developed by L’Oréal in partnership with technology company Prinker, pioneers of non-permanent printed tattoos, L’Oréal Brow Magic makes salon-quality results accessible at home. Using 2,400 tiny nozzles and printing technology with a print resolution of up to 1,200 drops per inch (dpi), L’Oreal Brow Magic is the first lightweight and portable electronic eyebrow makeup applicator that gives customers the most precise brow shape in seconds.

Using L’Oréal’s Modiface AR technology, L’Oréal Brow Magic scans the user’s face and makes recommendations for microblading, micro-shading or filler effects.
