Hailing from Australia, Nick Thomm conceives a digitised reality through exhilarating pieces that blissfully disorient and enthrall the senses. A euphony of colour is the focal point of Nick Thomm’s aesthetic, blended masterfully with boldly assorted spray-paints. He drenches familiar icons and cultural symbols in a mélange of hyper pigments to yield a fresh frame of reference. Gradients of electrifying hues ebb and flow by Thomm’s adept hands.
Splicing images together and adding multiple layers keeps viewers absorbed in his visual abstractions. Nick Thomm transcribes his trademark kaleidoscopic style onto skateboard decks and through video installations. Deck designs include a holographic chrome and a Kate Moss inspired skateboard, cunningly dubbed “Skate Moss”. Additionally, Thomm has designed some neon signs such as his 2012 piece “Real Eyes, Realise, Real Lies”.
Nick Thomm is quite the accomplished artist as his artwork has touched many parts of the world including Los Angeles, New York, Hong Kong, and Melbourne. He has partnered with several high-profile brands such as Nike, Soundcloud, and Maybelline, between 2016-2017. One of his many great achievements includes his contribution to BBC’s Live Live with public installations seen across the city of London for the 2012 Olympic Games.
Nick Thomm’s artistic imagination caught the attention of American actress and musician, Miley Cyrus. Within a couple of weeks of correspondence via Instagram, the visual artist found himself creating a full-blown mural in Cyrus’ home for her. Currently, Nick Thomm continues to produce psychedelic art in New York and Melbourne.
