Valice: Planetary Peril!

Cover artwork for Valice track "Planetary Peril!".

Valice’s “Planetary Peril!” turns the end of the world into a street party, where an asteroid, collapsing Earth, and escaping billionaires become reasons to dance before the lights go out. The opening announcement is blunt: “You’re all going to fucking die,” followed by an invitation to enjoy “one last joyride.” The joke works because the song never lets the catastrophe become distant. The threat is already above them, and the party is already happening below.

The lyrics keep moving between confusion, confidence, and exhaustion. “There’s revolution / Too tired for real solutions” captures a speaker who knows something is wrong but has little energy left for grand answers, while the approaching light keeps getting brighter—satirizing media spectacle and crisis fatigue much like Braille Face: Pure Entertainment. The despot on television adds another layer, blaming everyone around him as the ships run out of space. With nowhere else to go, the streets become the only place left to dance. “Planetary Peril!” keeps that absurdity intact to the end. The apocalypse is terrifying, but the song refuses to stand still and contemplate it—sharing a restless, high-speed momentum with the fugitive narrative of Cover Zero: The Innocent One. There is wine, there is dancing, there is an asteroid coming, and something in the distance keeps saying that time is almost up, a sardonic dancefloor coping mechanism also driving the mirror-lined satire of LIANZI: I WANT WHAT THEY HAVE.
