Feverdream.: Disco Ball

Feverdream.: Disco Ball

FEVERDREAM. places a disco ball at the center of “Disco Ball” while everything around it keeps shifting between attraction and collapse. The image keeps shining through the uncertainty, a small source of light above two people dancing in the dark, while the narrator asks whether the fall is into love or into something less stable. That question gives the romance its shape without answering it.

The person on the other side keeps the narrator moving between extremes. “You pick me up, you tear me down” returns beside an admission that this is someone who can bring a man who never begged to his knees. Desire becomes physical through breath, intoxication, and the comparison to medication, but none of those images settles into certainty. “At least I think so” interrupts the declaration of love before it can become a declaration at all.

By the end, the narrator is “coming back around” and “coming down,” still caught in the movement described from the beginning. The disco ball remains overhead, reflecting light while the question beneath it keeps turning.
