Albert Adrià joines forces with El Equipo Creativo to design Gelato Collection in Barcelona
Gelato Collection in Barcelona is an avant-garde gelato concept that redefines the traditional ice cream shop by merging haute cuisine with the refined world of perfumery. This exclusive experience is the brainchild of Albert Adrià, a celebrated chef recognized as the World’s 2nd Best Chef in 2024 and the World’s Best Pastry Chef in 2015. Inspired by the meticulous craftsmanship of perfumers who number their creations, this project envisions a dynamic collection of unique, numbered recipes that will evolve over time, offering an ever-expanding repertoire of flavors.
To materialize this ambitious vision, Adrià joined forces with El Equipo Creativo, a design studio with whom he previously collaborated on celebrated gastronomic ventures such as Tickets, La Dolça, and Pakta. Their shared expertise has given rise to a space where contrasts are seamlessly balanced: cold yet warm, sophisticated yet minimalist. Within this carefully curated environment, gelato transcends its conventional role, becoming an art form that embodies culinary excellence.
The design of Gelato Collection centers around a striking gelato display case, conceived as the focal point of the space. Clad in fluted glass, it conveys a sense of freshness and an almost icy allure, while also enhancing the visual appeal of the vibrant flavors crafted by Adrià. This refined centerpiece is surrounded by walls in metallic and champagne tones, exuding luxury and sophistication while creating an elegant interplay of light and texture. The display case itself, reminiscent of perfume bottles or precious jewelry boxes, elevates each gelato to the status of an exclusive creation.
Upon entering, visitors are greeted by a grand double-height space crowned by three large hexagonal lamps made of textured glass. Their ethereal glow mirrors the purity of ice, casting a cool, inviting ambiance that contrasts with the warm streets of Barcelona. Positioned along La Rambla, the design beckons passersby to step inside and experience a refreshing escape from the Mediterranean heat. More than just a gelato shop, Gelato Collection is a multisensory journey where flavors, design, and atmosphere converge to create an unparalleled culinary and artistic experience.
