BESTSECRET Munich office by HENN brings fashion into the workplace
HENN has completed the BESTSECRET office in Munich, a 3,100-square-metre workplace occupying seven floors of a new building on the iCampus at Ostbahnhof. Designed for around 125 employees, the corporate interior translates the identity of the members-only luxury fashion platform into a physical environment. Warm neutral surfaces, reflective elements and textile partitions establish a restrained framework for daily work while connecting the office to BESTSECRET’s digital presentation of curated fashion brands.
The office occupies the northern end of a building designed by LRO Lederer Ragnarsdóttir Oei, with its main elevation facing Munich’s city centre. From the interior, views extend across the Werksviertel district and towards the Alps. HENN used this orientation to organise the workplace according to different levels of activity. Collaborative zones face the busier urban side, while rooms intended for focused work are positioned along the quieter section of the building.
A limited material palette gives the BESTSECRET office in Munich a consistent identity across its seven floors. Warm grey walls meet exposed concrete ceilings and seamless light grey flooring, producing a neutral background for furniture and daily activity. Mirrored and reflective surfaces increase the perceived depth of circulation areas. Curtains and other textile elements soften the harder architectural finishes while introducing a direct material reference to clothing, fabric and the wider fashion industry.
HENN developed the interior through contrasts between cool and tactile surfaces. Galvanised metal and architectural concrete retain the industrial character of the building, while timber furniture adds warmth along the perimeter. Custom-made wooden structures integrate shelves, benches and informal seating into the outer walls. These fixed elements reduce the need for separate furniture and create places where employees can pause, work individually or hold brief conversations without entering enclosed meeting rooms.
Transparency forms the organisational principle of the workplace design. Glazed walls preserve visual connections between offices, circulation routes and shared areas, allowing daylight and exterior views to reach the centre of each level. On the ground floor, the boardroom remains visible from outside and faces the city. A lounge kitchen occupies the opposite side, where a large communal table provides a shared meeting point for employees working across the different floors.
Upper levels combine open coworking areas with smaller think-tank rooms for concentrated tasks. Floor-to-ceiling curtains can divide these spaces into more specific configurations, allowing the office layout to respond to meetings, independent work and changing team sizes. Completed in 2024 with lighting planning by lumen3 and interior fitout by BES Brunold Holz und Design Manufaktur, the project received the iF Design Award, AZ Awards and DNA Paris Design Awards in 2026. Through its controlled palette and flexible structure, HENN gives BESTSECRET a workplace shaped by the same reduced, carefully curated character as its online platform.
