A sensory reinterpretation of Nike’s Moon Shoe by Random Studio and Jacquemus
The Nike x Jacquemus pop-up by Random Studio reimagined the retail environment as a living stage, bringing the legacy of Nike’s Moon Shoe into an experiential narrative for Paris Fashion Week. Installed at Nike’s Le Marais location, the project transformed the store into a temporal landscape that bridged athletic heritage with contemporary design.
Random Studio orchestrated the experience with cinematic precision, crafting a space that evoked both the tactile realism of a 1970s gym and the quiet discipline of a ballet studio — a dialogue between sport and poise that reflected Jacquemus’ reinterpretation of the iconic shoe.

Every detail within the installation carried the texture of memory. The material palette combined worn wood, brushed metal, and supple leather, evoking the physical warmth of vintage training spaces. Subtle lighting revealed handcrafted imperfections and soft patinas, grounding the environment in authenticity.
Through these tactile cues, Random Studio guided visitors through a sensory timeline, connecting the Moon Shoe’s experimental beginnings with Nike’s contemporary design language.

In the storefront windows, shoes hung neatly along a rail, echoing a gym’s locker-room ritual. This understated display acted as both gesture and invitation, leading visitors deeper into the narrative space.
Inside, the scenography unfolded through functional props — pommel horses, ballet slippers, and aged wooden crates doubling as product displays — each chosen for its capacity to evoke history rather than decoration.
A large mirror framed by a ballet bar and sheer curtains became a focal point, inviting guests to engage with the shoes through movement, reflection, and touch.

Random Studio expanded the experience beyond visual storytelling through the careful design of sound and scent. A shifting soundscape transitioned from classical ballet compositions to rhythmic 1970s hits, encapsulating the duality of grace and energy central to the collaboration.
A bespoke fragrance infused the air with notes of waxed wood and aged leather, completing the atmosphere and deepening the visitor’s emotional connection to the space. By combining narrative design and sensory composition, Random Studio transformed the Nike x Jacquemus collaboration into a contemporary act of remembrance.
The project invited visitors to inhabit the Moon Shoe’s story — to sense its craftsmanship, history, and ongoing evolution. It was less a retail activation than an experience of time and texture, where design became a vessel for memory, motion, and cultural continuity.
