Completed in the year 2023, TARANG Pavilion embodies the grace and movement of water while embracing the rich heritage of the region.

Gandhinagar, a city with a rich cultural heritage, offers an ideal backdrop for the TARANG Pavilion. The architects’ vision was to create a space that would reflect the ebb and flow of life, just as water does in a river. Water, in many cultures, symbolizes life, purity, and renewal, and the designers aimed to encapsulate these qualities within the structure.

Drawing inspiration from the undulating waves and the serenity of water bodies, the pavilion’s design philosophy centers around the fluidity and dynamism of water. The TARANG Pavilion represents a harmonious blend of contemporary design principles with traditional craftsmanship, establishing a unique connection with the surrounding landscape.

The TARANG Pavilion stretches across an approximate area of 3000 ft², with dimensions measuring 75’ X 40’. The architectural form appears to rise gracefully from the ground, imitating the gentle yet mesmerizing dance of waves. Constructed using traditional techniques, the structure showcases the architects’ prowess in sculpting organic shapes without relying on digital tools or software.

The design team collaborated with the skilled artisans of the “So Hath-100 Hands” Foundation for Building Artisans in Bhuj, Gujarat, who masterfully crafted the pavilion. Employing locally-sourced materials like terracotta brick tile, sandstone, and Kotah stone, the architects ensured that the building seamlessly blends with the regional aesthetics.
