PPAA arranges Casa Ocote as a two-family retreat in Valle de Bravo

Casa Ocote by PPAA rests in Valle de Bravo, Mexico, presenting an architectural retreat centered on calm atmospheres and social connection. The residence was designed for two friends and their families seeking a place where togetherness and privacy can function in equilibrium.

PPAA approaches this duality with precision, defining spatial limits in ways that encourage interaction without sacrificing intimacy. The result is an environment that feels measured, tactile, and quietly expressive.

The Casa Ocote entrance sequence introduces the tone of the project. A body of water greets visitors and diffuses a sense of serenity as the mirrored reflection of the façade doubles the perception of materials and surrounding vegetation. This gesture directs attention to both the built form and the natural context, positioning them in a continuous visual dialogue.

A generous ground level of Casa Ocote concentrates the social program. Living room, kitchen, and dining spaces remain connected and extend toward a semi-covered terrace that operates as an extension of daily activity. Warm weather and panoramic views shape the spatial rhythm, allowing interior life to reach outward.

This architectural openness supports casual gatherings, shared meals, and daily rituals, enabling family life to unfold with ease between rooms and exterior platforms.

Above, a contrasting level of privacy defines the upper floor. The private program is arranged symmetrically around a central staircase that functions as both structural spine and spatial register. Each family receives its own autonomous zone including bedrooms and dedicated terraces.

These outdoor rooms face the garden and distant landscape, granting quiet vantage points for reading, resting, or contemplation. This separation of spaces strengthens the original brief: one house, two families, parallel routines.

Material clarity reinforces the project’s identity. Natural finishes, controlled openings, and calibrated proportions cultivate a soft relationship between construction and the environment.

PPAA’s design refrains from excess, letting the sequencing of volumes and the presence of vegetation form the emotional atmosphere of the retreat. The architecture favors stillness and measured light, permitting nature to carry much of the sensory weight.

Casa Ocote functions as more than a temporary rest house. It acts as a place to reconnect with landscape and deepen personal relationships. Its careful composition and serene temper offer a balanced domestic environment where privacy and shared experience coexist.

Through quiet gestures and purposeful arrangement, the project reflects PPAA’s commitment to architecture that nurtures both physical comfort and human connection.
