Adizero Dropset Elite is built for speed and stability across hybrid race stations

Positioned as adidas’ first dual-purpose shoe for hybrid racing, the Adizero Dropset Elite combines speed-oriented cushioning with the structured support athletes need for movements such as wall balls, sled work, and lunges, where control and traction can be as decisive as pace.

Hybrid fitness racing has rapidly grown into a distinct performance category, but the footwear choice has typically forced a trade-off: runners want lightweight energy return, while functional stations demand stability under load and confident grip on varied surfaces.
adidas says the Adizero Dropset Elite is intended to remove that compromise by bringing together know-how from its Adizero running line and its Dropset training range, translating both approaches into a single competition shoe.

The product was developed through research and testing at adidas’ Innovation Lab in Herzogenaurach, Germany, and shaped through collaboration with elite athletes. Two-time HYROX world champion Tim Wenisch was involved alongside competitors including Graham Halliday, Ella Wilkinson, Fabian Eisenlauer, Jana Lebenstedt, and Jennifer Muir, with feedback gathered across months of racing and training.
adidas credits those insights with influencing practical details such as carpet-ready grip, speed optimization through transitions, and stability for demanding repetitions under fatigue.

The Adizero Dropset Elite is built around five core components. Lightstrike Pro foam keeps the shoe light while adding energy return. An Energy Rim wraps the perimeter to guide foot motion and improve heel and rearfoot stability. A thin Continental rubber outsole, applied in a diamond pattern, supports traction and controlled transitions.
The geometry includes a 12mm heel drop to help maintain efficiency across running segments and station work. A Footadapt sockliner is designed to increase foot awareness and support control during functional sequences.

adidas notes that the shoe has already been used in top-level competition, with Tim Wenisch wearing it when he won the HYROX Elite 15 Male Singles in Melbourne in December 2025.
The brand also states that its leading hybrid athletes are set to wear the Adizero Dropset Elite throughout the current season, using it as a category statement for races where time is won in both the straightaways and the stations.

The launch sits alongside adidas’ wider commitment to hybrid fitness events, including a long-term partnership with its official hybrid competition partner, ATHX, following earlier activations in the UK and planned expansions to additional locations.
The Adizero Dropset Elite is scheduled to become available from March 18, 2026, priced at €275, targeting ambitious hybrid athletes who want one performance shoe engineered for speed, stability, and grip across an entire race format.
