    POSITION DETAILS:

    We are looking for a Technical Art Director who is passionate about providing high quality tools and processes to support the artistic endeavors of Apex Legends. You will lead the Tech Art team on Apex Legends, providing technical direction, guidance, and mentorship to Tech Content Artists, Tech Animators, and Tech Tool Artists. As a Technical Art Director, you will work and partner with other leaders in disciplines such as code, art, animation, game design and audio as a technical advocate for artists to to create roadmaps for the future of Apex’s technical art landscape.

As the leader of our technical art team, you’ll help our creators deliver the highest quality game to our players.

    Main Responsibilities:

    • Own and contribute to the long-term vision of tech art and art sustainability across Apex
    • Organize and direct the department’s research and solutions towards performance and quality.
    • Break down existing processes and pipelines, identify improvements, define goals, build consensus around ideas, then execute the plan.
    • Define, review, test and integrate new tools to activate the art department of Apex. (both internal and standard)
    • Collaborate with the production team to maintain the team’s schedule and priorities
    • Represent artists in technical prioritization discussions
    • Work collaboratively with the Tools and Rendering SEs to lead the development of technology and tools.
    • Experience using and setting up automation for content/asset processing.
    • Defender of the Tech Art team at the team leadership level
    • Understand content growth on Apex and create (or help define requirements) solutions to these issues
    • Identify strategic artistic resource needs and promote staffing for all technical artistic roles on the team
    • Mentor, guide and direct technical artists, providing examples and arranging training as needed

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the technical art industry (or practice in a related artistic discipline)
    • Shipped multiple AAA titles in this role or a related role
    • Demonstrable expertise in technical and artistic direction
    • Proficiency in at least one of the following languages: Python, C#, C++ (The more the better)
    • Some sculpting, modeling, rigging and animation experience and understanding of related workflows is desirable.
    • Several years of experience leading a team of technical artists
    • Experience working in a proprietary engine
    • Excellent communicator who can take feedback and give direction to the team.
    • Collaborative, motivated and effective time management skills
    • Experience working with external development teams
    • Passion for creating and playing games

    Nice to Have:

    • Knowledge rendering
    • Experience working in a proprietary engine
    • C++ programming skills

         **COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS IN THE UNITED STATES

    The base salary ranges shown below relate to the market compensation geographies defined in these states. If you reside outside of these locations, a recruiter will advise you on the base salary range and benefits for your specific location.

The salary offered will be determined based on many relevant business and candidate factors, including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.

    BASE SALARY SCALES

    • California (depending on location, eg Los Angeles vs. Sacramento):

    $184,600 – $289,300

    • New York (depending on location, such as Manhattan or Buffalo):

    $177,350 – $289,300

    • New Jersey (depending on location, eg Jersey City vs. Trenton):

    $177,350 – $289,300

    • Colorado (depending on location, eg Denver vs Colorado Springs):

    $177,350 – $261,050

    • Washington (depending on location, eg Seattle vs. Spokane):

    $177,350 – $261,050

    Base salary is only part of the overall compensation package at EA. We also offer a benefits package including paid time off (3 weeks per year to start), 80 hours sick time per year, 16 paid time off per year, 10 weeks paid time off to bond with baby (after 1 year of service), medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance and 401(k) to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonuses and shares.”
